My ten year-old son really wanted this and saved up for it. There are a lot of bad reviews and a lot of negatives... I read him all the bad points from the reviews as I wanted him to be prepared rather than disappointed after he spent his every last dollar on this thing. We looked around at other Star Wars RC toys, but this one still looked the best. His money, okay with me! He bought the protection plan for an extra $10 to get it replaced easily if it broke. It arrived today and he LOVES it! I am very impressed. We were prepared for the worst, but this Falcon is cool and it works much better than expected. It does take about an hour to charge, but he got almost 15 minutes of flying time in between charging. He has only used it inside so far, but he said it's pretty easy to fly - of course the first 15 minutes was more crashing than flying, but he got the hang of it fast. It is very lightweight, so it would be difficult to handle outside if there is any breeze. But on the plus side, it is very lightweight, so it doesn't bang and smash into walls, furniture, pets and other kids like some of the helicopters and quad copter's he's had. He got it to hover really well in the second 15 minutes of use. The sound-effect wasn't as loud and annoying as I thought it would be, and it sure looks cool lit up and coming toward you! If days of abuse change my mind, I will update this review. So far, it's awesome. My son was able to fly this twice, after that it no longer worked. We payed almost two hundred dollars for a device that worked for a total of twenty minutes…ridiculous. I do have to say that when it worked it really was amazing. Just wish it would have been more durable, how disappointing.I must have gotten lucky because I only paid $88 for this, around $20 less than what it is now. I just finished my first round of playing with it (draining the batteries in around 10 minutes). Like others have said, around an hour to charge, 5 to 10 minutes of use. The foamy type enclosure does seem highly durable, I've crashed this thing so many times in 10 minutes it isn't funny. This is my first time ever flying a quadrocopter like device, so I can't really compare it to anything. By the end of my 10 minute period, I was able to at least not crash as much, will take a few more rounds before I feel comfortable with it. I tried taking it outdoors for less crashing, but the wind (barely a breeze) was just too much, I was afraid it would end up in the neighbors yard.Is it the best quality 'copter out there? No. But, if you're a star wars fan like me, I think it will be worth the money. If nothing else, just to buzz it around the faces of my other star wars friends who don't have one :)We bought 2 of these, one for our son's 8th Birthday 'Jedi Training' party and one for a gift for our nephew. When we first pulled it out of the box, we thought it was going to be cheaply made, however, the material used actually makes it more durable. It is very difficult to learn to fly but after much practice he has gotten the hang of it. With a fully charged battery he is only able to get about 20 minutes of fly time before it needs to be recharged. This is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, wish the battery lasted longer. The one we bought for our nephew though does not stay charged for more than 5 minutes. This is obviously a defect and we will be returning his. Assuming his is exchanged with no difficulties and the new one works the way our son's does we would recommend this product.I haven't flown it that often but kept it mostly packaged and on a shelf when not in use. Today I got it out for fun but found that the controller's power button no longer functioned. Out of frustration I took the controller apart (which I don't recommend you do: I had to break the controller body slightly in order to do so).The power button is anchored by a small plastic pole + spring on the top and the actual button on the bottom. The small plastic pole had broken. So the button could be pressed but it was swinging like a door off of the actual button in the electronic components. The description is poor, my apologies. At the end of the day I removed the button, reassembled the controller, and have to use a toothpick to activate the internal button. It is awkward. If only they were as thorough about the design of the button as they were about making sure you couldn't easily open up the controller itself. Then I might be a satisfied customer.Cool little gadget this Falcon is. It is very lightweight so NO outdoor flying my friends. Its all foam (hence its weight), but very indoor friendly. Whether you bump a wall, smack the ceiling, or crash land, this thing just keeps on ticking. Very easy to control and the altitude control stick is sticky which makes is easy for you to pick a good height and focus on maneuvering. Its a little noisy but nothing serious. The sound effects are loud and cool. It also has a hyper-drive function which is pretty amazing. Charging is fairly quick and play time is about 15-20 minutes. I would recommend this toy but only if you find it on sale. Its a little pricey if you ask me for what you get. Air Hogs also makes a $200 version which I will be picking up this coming Christmas. It's it the easiest to fly! I've never flown any type of toy that could hover, or move in the air. I learned within 10 minutes to use the controls and can fly it around the room easily without hitting anything. So kids can easily learn to fly this. It can not be destroyed easily(technically) as long as you don't smash it into something hard/sharp and stay away from water. All the plastic blades are inside the foam and protect them and if this craft falls it's all soft foam and won't hurt/break it. The only con is that you have 5 minutes of flight time to a 45-60 minute charge. I just wished it would be more like 20-30 minutes per charge. 5 minutes isn't much time when you are having fun! This was bought as a gift for my Star Wars mad 36 year old partner. He was thrilled with it. It's easy to use, lightweight but sturdy. It's smashed into walls etc and no damage has occurred. Not for out door use! Otherwise you will lose it. It's great fun. Makes a noise when in use and has lights which are pretty cool. The fans do not like hair though so make sure to clean them regularly otherwise this can affect its movementMy partner and my son absolutely love it. It's a bit tricky to navigate but all the fun is in the practicing. The only down side is that you only get 10/15 minutes flying time between charging the batteries. On average it takes 30 mins to recharge. In the dark it looks like you 're flying a UFO, really cool.while it is made of Styrofoam and is not the strongest of items, it is a lot of fun! if you are a Star Wars fan I would highly recommend this item, relive the movies by flying your very own Millennium Falcon. This drone lights up and also plays noises so it is even more like you are flying the real thing. The battery doesn’t last long, it’s a lot of money for what it is and I’m sure it won’t last long until it’s broken.Flies perfectly inside the house: my Nephews loved it. The only downside is a short running time (about 10 mins): also imported from Japan, so took a while to arrive, and all instructions in Japanese!
